Strong photography again this year. Liked the work of Mike Byrne and this image in particular.

ESP at Eastside

28 April, gave a talk to Extra Special People Salon artist members at Eastside Projects http://www.eastsideprojects.org/.

We looked at the the support system for artists to develop professionally and creatively with examples of artists such as Kim Coleman and Jenny Hogarth who work collaboratively and set up the Embassy, an artists' run gallery in Edinburgh http://www.embassygallery.org/.

A big difference for artists in Scotland is that funding sits and decisions are made `locally' - those in organisations who offer the support, such as Creative Scotland and the local authorities are aware of an artist's development and therefore know when funding is most needed.

The Institute for Occupation of Space

School of Art, BIAD

2nd year student, Niall took the floor for protest songs and poetry last week, followed by a Caribbean number from Michael Rose- Green.

Dan Auluk

Visited Dan's studio last week in Birmingham - interesting work http://www.danauluk.co.uk/ and like this digital piece mumsmum, April 2010:

Mead Gallery

Finally got to the Mead and rewarded with the kind of exhibition you expect to find in a good University run gallery - the spotlight on an artist working in a specific medium, and substantial - Hubert Dalwood. Really liked the 1970's chrome pieces.
